Muay Thai icon Sam-A Gaiyanghadao has been in great form during his recent outings under the ONE Championship banner and now he has his sights set on the gold.

The Thai veteran is certainly no stranger to being one of the promotion's world champions, having held the Muay Thai and kickboxing gold in separate divisions in the past.

In June 2023, he was stopped by Prajanchai PK Saenchai in their interim strawweight Muay Thai title fight only for his Thai rival to go on to become a two-sport world champion.

In the meantime, the 41-year-old striking icon has bounced back with two of his best performances in quite some time.

After stopping Akram Hamidi in September, Prajanchai returned this past weekend at ONE 169 where a dominant performance against Zhang Peimian saw him get his hand raised once again.

Sam-A has now got his sights set on becoming a world champion once again and avenging his previous defeats in the process.

In his post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson, after the official decision was announced, the former divisional king spoke about his title ambitions:

"What I want next is I want to get back on my throne. I want to get back there again to prove myself and I want to do this for myself."

Sam-A may have hit yet another run of form

Throughout his career, Sam-A has shown an incredible ability to bounce back and work his way to the top of the division again.

Between his two losses to Prajanchai in 2021 and 2023, he went on yet another win streak before the two men faced off in a rematch for the interim title.

His devastating knockout loss in their rematch could have been the end of his title aspirations but that is simply not the cloth that he is cut from.

The Thai veteran is back and ready to shoot for the gold one more time.
