Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon has his career goals set moving forward but is going step by step in trying to achieve them.
‘The Iron Man’ was victorious at ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13 in Bangkok, defeating China’s Jiduo Yibu by unanimous decision in their catchweight kickboxing showdown.
Rodtang, the reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, competed in his first kickboxing bout in the promotion in two years time, something he said was a jump-off point to get his push to win world titles in other sports going forward.

The 25-year-old fighter said he is keen on the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title now held by Superlek Kiatmoo9 and later on, make a push for a mixed martial arts gold.
In his post-fight interview after his win over Yibu, he said:
“I want to go step by step. I want to claim my title in kickboxing first and then I will go to MMA. My goal right now is to stay in the flyweight division and claim the kickboxing title and then I will move to MMA.”
He added:
“Absolutely. I am ready for that (to face Superlek).”
A showdown with Superlek for his world title is highly likely to happen with Rodtang the No. 1 contender in the flyweight kickboxing division.

In what could be the start of the calm before the storm, Rodtang Jitmuangnon congratulated Superlek Kiatmoo9 after the latter claimed the vacant ONE flyweight kickboxing world title at ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13 in Bangkok.
In a video posted by ONE Championship on Instagram, 'The Iron Man' is seen hugging Superlek and congratulating him near circleside after he defeated Spanish opponent Daniel Puertas for the kickboxing gold.
The interaction carried a lot of significance as the two Thai superstar fighters could be foes in the immediate future as Rodtang is the No. 1 contender in the flyweight kickboxing division apart from being the reigning ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion.
To further whet the fans’ interest, ONE Championship had a caption that read:
“Brothers in arms 🤝 Is this the fight to make?”
