When Danielle Kelly first fell head over heels in love with grappling, she became a super fan of the sport.

She didn't just spend as much time training as possible because when the sessions ended and she went back home, jiu-jitsu was still on her mind.

Kelly came into martial arts out of necessity rather than having a pre-existing passion for it before her first class.

After finding herself at a crossroads, which eventually led to her training in grappling rather than taekwondo, her journey began.

With her new favorite pastime becoming a complete escape for her, it's no surprise that when she wasn't on the mats, she was watching as a fan.

Kelly revealed on The Few Will Hunt Show that when she first started learning her craft, she would use her spare time to do homework on the elite level:

"It's scary, because when I was a kid, I was obsessed with jiu-jitsu. I would watch old ADCC matches, which back then when I started, they were literally two years ago at the time. Now they're like, 20 years ago."

Danielle Kelly is a product of all these decisions

There were so many points in the life of Danielle Kelly where she could have given up or never found her way to becoming an elite jiu-jitsu competitor.

For whatever reason, the decisions she made have led her to this point, and she does not take that for granted after what she has been through.

Kelly is set to return on August 2, when she will defend her ONE atomweight submission grappling world championship against Mayssa Bastos.

The years of training and watching others have paid off for her, but now it's her turn to set the example for others to follow.

ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
