ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon would not be the superstar he is today if not for his humility in understanding what went wrong in his defeats. Such was how he approached his failure to take the featherweight Muay Thai crown from Tawanchai PK Saenchai in December 2023.
The 34-year-old striker will have his second shot at the gold held by Tawanchai when they clash at ONE 170 on Friday, Jan. 24, inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
During the press conference for the promotion's first numbered card of the year, Superbon shared what he learned from losing to the PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym product and how he could unseat him in their second go-around. He said:
"In the first fight, what I learned the most is that Tawanchai is someone who can kick really fast and can do teeps or push kicks very precisely. So I went back and did my homework, and I believe that if I can face these two moves from Tawanchai, then I can beat him this Friday."

Superbon promises decisive victory against Tawanchai
Superbon has long dreamed of becoming a two-sport ONE world champion. While he understands the difficulty in that goal, the founder of Superbon Training Camp believes he is on the right path to making it a reality after coming close to dethroning Tawanchai in their first meeting.
The top-ranked ONE featherweight Muay Thai competitor recently told the world's largest martial arts promotion:
"I knew I'd have another chance to fight Tawanchai because the result was so close. So, I feel like I am going to defeat him very clearly in the next fight."
