Kwon Won Il is determined to return to South Korea with a piece of ONE Championship gold around his waist.
The knockout merchant will challenge familiar foe Fabricio Andrade for the ONE bantamweight MMA world title in the co-main event of the stacked ONE 170 card on Friday at Impact Arena.
Embracing the underdog role, Kwon promised his nation he'd deliver an absolute show-stopper against Andrade and become their next sporting hero.

Kwon Won Il posted on Instagram:
"There were a lot of things that happened and I worked hard and finally, there is only one day left! I want to do well and win! I will win and go back to Korea with a heavy heart! I will not be discouraged by being an underdog I will do my best! I will go back with a win!"
Kwon is one of MMA's most dangerous strikers, with his nine wins in ONE Championship ending in vicious knockouts for an absurd 100 percent finish rate.
Although he lost in his first encounter against Andrade at ONE 158 in Singapore, Kwon worked his way back up the ladder and positioned himself at the world title picture.
Kwon was a true menace following his defeat to Andrade and racked up three straight knockout wins over Mark Abelardo, Artem Belakh, and Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg.
At the cusp of history, Kwon can become South Korea's next MMA world champion in his quest to avenge his previous loss to Andrade.

Kwon Won Il determined to return the favor against Fabricio Andrade
Kwon Won Il is hellbent on not only capturing the ONE bantamweight MMA world title, but he's also intent on ending Fabricio Andrade in the opening round of their world title matchup.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Kwon said he wants to return the favor and put Andrade to sleep in the first round at ONE 170.
Andrade ended Kwon's earlier three-fight winning streak with a soul-crushing body kick knockout when they locked horns at ONE 158 in June 2022.
"I will finish him in the first round. I'll either get a knockout, a submission, or put him to sleep," said Kwon.
