For “Supergirl”, victory will come when she opens her mind.

ONE Muay Thai strawweight Anna 'Supergirl' Jaroonsak will meet a familiar face this weekend, fighting in a rematch with Thailand’s Ekaterina Vandaryeva.

Their first fight, a split decision victory for Jaroonsak, took place almost exactly a year ago.

Speaking with ONE Championship, Jaroonsak described her perspective going into this fight and what she plans to change to secure the win:

“In this fight, I will try to throw as many weapons as possible. The previous fight, I only focused on punching the body. This time I will capitalize using my knees more. I'll do anything to confuse her so that she can’t execute her game plan.

Emphasizing the intensity that she expects out of the fight, "Supergirl" said:

"This time, it will be a fierce fight between Annabelle and Barbie. Two dolls will bring the fireworks on January 13. We both will fight with all our might and the result must be clear.”

Knowing she was a few strikes away from a loss in her last fight, she’ll be coming in with a renewed drive and urgency to take the fight away from the judges’ decision.

Supergirl would rather lose than suffer another indecisive win

Combat sports events are rarely totally devoid of drama, whether it be from weight cutting, judging, or fouls.

'Supergirl' was left unsatisfied by the outcome of her match against Ekaterina Vandaryeva last year, and wants to feel clarity no matter the outcome this weekend, even if that means losing.

In the same interview with ONE Championship, Jaroonsak voiced her frustration with a close decision victory:

“What hurts me from the last fight was not the opponent. I don’t have any problem with ‘Barbie.’ I want the result to be crystal clear this time so there won’t be any room for arguments. It doesn’t matter if I win or lose, but it must be clear-cut. This time, I am so determined to put on the show. I’d like to show my full capacity.”

The desire for a clear winner is likely shared by both fighters going into ONE Fight Night 6.

Against Supergirl, Vandareya is desperate for a win. Her fights for ONE Championship have been competitive and against top competition, with victory eluding her. With a win over Supergirl, she immediately enters the conversation to fight big names that can fast-track to the title.

For Jaroonsak, a repeat win over a respected name like Ekaterina Vandaryeva puts her at 3-0 for ONE Championship, and worthy of a big step up in competition.

The fight will conclude a night of Muay Thai, kickboxing, grappling, and MMA fights from the Impact Arena in Bangkok on January 13. ONE Fight Night 6 will air on Amazon Prime for North American subscribers, live on Friday night in the US.
