ONE Championship's latest high-profile signee Dante Leon doesn't mind not getting an immediate world title shot right away.

Before reaching superstar status in the Brazilian jiu-jitsu scene, the Canadian grappler tirelessly worked his way to the top.

It appears that Leon will carry the same mentality in the world's largest martial arts organization and earn himself a world title shot against lightweight submission grappling kingpin Kade Ruotolo.

Dante Leon shared in an interview with the Bangkok Post:

“I plan to get experience in the events. Rack up some wins against the highest level competition while connecting with the organization and fans to truly prove I am worthy of the title shot. This will make for a better match that fans can get behind once they see my legitimacy.”

Leon's first chance to make a splash in the lightweight submission grappling ranks will take place at ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs Rasulov on Prime Video.

The two-time IBJJF no-gi world champion will tussle with Bruno Pucci in a 10-minute grapple-fest inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Dec. 6

All eyes will certainly be on Leon in his promotional debut on the global stage, and we all can't wait to see his beautiful jiu-jitsu on display this Friday.

Dante Leon extremely proud to be part of ONE Championship's world-class roster

ONE Championship's submission grappling ranks undoubtedly got even more stacked with the addition of Dante Leon.

By the looks of it, the 29-year-old BJJ ace is also grateful to be a part of such a prestigious promotion that truly embodies the true essence of martial arts.

Leon told ONE Championship:

"I see ONE as being a really premier organization, between their presentation, between how they conduct themselves, and a big thing is the athletes that are there."

Prime Video subscribers in North America can watch ONE Fight Night 26 free live as it happens in US Primetime.
