Beneil Dariush does not believe that his chances of getting a title shot have improved despite an impressive performance at UFC 280.

In a recent interview on Submission Radio, the 33-year-old did not sound very optimistic about standing opposite the champion next. Dariush said that even after his victory over Mateusz Gamrot, he's still in the same position as before and not get any closer to a shot at the lightweight title.

"We're still back exactly where we were before, nothing's changed... I mean, does it sound like I'm getting a title shot? I don't think so. Maybe I'm getting some extra credit here and there from people, but I think still no title shot and just, if anything, people are probably like, 'Maybe Gamrot wasn't as good as we thought.' But obviously, he's a stud and that's just the way it goes for me."

At UFC 280, Dariush took on rising contender Mateusz Gamrot in a three-round fight. The Iranian-born fighter got the better of 'Gamer' for the majority of the bout and earned an impressive unanimous decision victory. The three judges scored the contest 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 in favor of the 33-year-old.

Beneil Dariush is on an eight-fight win streak

With the win over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 280, Beneil Dariush extended his UFC winning streak to eight. This incredible run in the lightweight shark tank includes victories over Thiago Moises, Drew Dober, Carlos Diego Ferreira and Tony Ferguson.

Despite this remarkable win streak, Dariush might not be fighting for the championship in his next UFC appearance.

Charles Oliveira fought Islam Makhachev for the vacant lightweight title in the main event of UFC 280. Makhachev overwhelmed 'Do Bronx' with his grappling skills and scored a comfortable submission victory in the second round of the fight.

In his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, Makhachev, accompanied by Khabib Nurmagomedov, called out featherweight king Alexander Volkanvoski for a showdown in Australia. Volkanovski proceeded to enter the octagon and accepted the challenge.

UFC president Dana White also appears keen to make that matchup. Hence, it appears that Dariush will have to wait a bit longer and perhaps earn one more victory in order to fight for the title.
