Apart from having dynamite tucked away in his fists, what makes Nico Carrillo dangerous is his deep understanding of the striking arts.

'King of The North' is as vigilant as it gets and often studies the mistakes of those before him, to ensure that he doesn't suffer from the same pitfalls.

Appearing in a recent Sky Sports interview, Carrillo broke down what he learned from Superlek Kiatmoo9's astonishing 49-second knockout win over Jonathan Haggerty.

The No.2-ranked bantamweight Muay Thai contender shared:

"Let’s just say I’m not gonna do what Jon [Haggerty] has done - step right into his vicinity. Because where Superlek is most dangerous is his elbows. That’s just an absolute fact of all facts, you know what I mean? If you get close enough, he’s going to find your chin with an elbow."

Needless to say, Nico Carrillo will prioritize distance management when he challenges 'The Kicking Machine' for his bantamweight Muay Thai belt at ONE 170 on Jan. 24 at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Scottish slugger knows not to get too carried away against the Thai megastar, who simply needs a split-second to capitalize on a small opening, just as he did against 'The General'.

Nico Carrillo says becoming world champion will mean so much more due to the quality of his opponent

Nico Carrillo's final road block on his way to 26 pounds of gold will no doubt be the toughest test of his career.

After four straight stoppage wins in the world's largest martial arts organization, the 26-year-old finisher will now face arguably the pound-for-pound best pure striker in the world.

Carrillo, though, wouldn't have it any other way. 'King of The North' described in the same interview what it would mean to dethrone an all-time great like Superlek:

"Finally! This is the last clutch of the draw. This is the one to finally get over that last hurdle. Words don't really describe what it would mean to me, but not only that, it's fighting for the belt, okay, but it's who I'm fighting for the belt.'"
