Islam Makhachev has offered former opponent Charles Oliveira a chance to train with him ahead of a rumored high-profile jump to 170 pounds.
'Do Bronx' has fought at featherweight and lightweight in the UFC but rumor has it that he is eyeing a jump up to welterweight. Not just any move up in weight but for a potential contest against former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington.
This training-related news was shared by Mike Bohn when Makhachev was fielding questions at the UFC 302 pre-fight media day before Saturday night's card.

Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira: Their Fight And Their Paths Since
Islam Makhachev fought Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 in a fight that captivated many. Many saw the 32-year-old as the heir apparent to Khabib Nurmagomedov with it being inevitable that he becomes UFC's lightweight champion like his mentor did.
Oliveira entered that October 2022 fight with enough momentum that some were wondering if he was the best 155-pound champion in company history. This is despite the fight technically being for the vacant belt.
The Dagestan native finished Oliveira by way of second-round submission to cement himself as the UFC lightweight champion.
Makhachev then went on to notch a pair of 155-pound title defenses that saw him beat the then-number one pound-for-pound fighter in MMA twice. The Russian combatant bested Alexander Volkanovski, who was the featherweight champion at the time, in back-to-back outings.
The first victory came via unanimous decision at UFC 284 with the second bout seeing Makhachev win by way of a head kick and follow up ground and pound at UFC 294.
Conversely, for Oliveira, he rebounded to defeat Beneil Dariush via first-round TKO stoppage at UFC 289. In his subsequent outing, Oliveira fell short to Arman Tsarukyan via split decision at UFC 300 in April.
Makhachev now looks to notch the third defense of his belt this weekend at UFC 302. On June 1, he will defend his crown against former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier in the pay-per-view headlining attraction.
