A recent episode of Joe Rogan Experience featured Roger Avary and Quentin Tarantino, the American writer and screenplay duo who created the 1994 film Pulp Fiction.
The podcast included a wide range of themes, just like any of Rogan's podcasts. This one focused primarily on movies, drugs, politics, and other topics.
In the episode's last minutes, Avary discussed his 2008 drunk driving and manslaughter allegations for accidentally killing a passenger present in his car. Reportedly, Avary was rashly driving under the influence of alcohol and hit a telephone pole, which caused the death of Andreas Zini, who was a friend of the artist.
When the Mercedes at a speed of 100mph hit the pole, it also threw the Canadian-American director's wife out of the car. In the recent podcast, he talked about the night and stated:

"I was driving home that night… it was dark and I was speeding …I lost control of the vehicle. I think my tire blew but I was going into a ditch and I knew I was going into this deep ditch because it was right near my house full of rocks... I knew if I go in there we will die so … there was a telephone pole and I hit the telephone pole. My passenger took the impact and my wife was thrown from the car.”
The director was severely hurt, as was his wife, who had been unconscious for some time, causing him concern. Initially, Avary did not plead guilty to the crime, however, on August 18, 2009, he finally pleaded guilty to "drunk drinking" and "vehicular manslaughter," as per The Guardian.
He was sentenced to one year behind bars plus five years probation and also had to settle a $4.1 million civil suit, which was filed by the victim's family. During the podcast, he expressed regret for the accident and shame about taking a life. He also said that his career was jeopardized as a result of the negative publicity surrounding the incident.
