Former ONE strawweight kickboxing world champion Jonathan Di Bella remains eager to fight Takeru Segawa. That's as long as the promotion and the Japanese star are willing to schedule the tie at a catchweight limit.

The Canadian-Italian had previously entertained the idea of a superfight against the former three-division K-1 champion, but talks about a meeting between the pair died down as both superstars had their hands full at the start of 2024.

However, judging by recent interview with Calf Kick Sports, the Team Di Bella Kickboxing affiliate is still very much interested in sharing the global stage with 'The Natural Born Crusher' in the future:

"Maybe, maybe, [we can talk about a catchweight fight against Takeru]. Like if he's okay. If he's ready to go."

Takeru and Jonathan Di Bella have endured tough starts to their year

Takeru opened his ONE campaign against Superlek Kiatmoo9 in a ONE flyweight kickboxing world title contest at ONE 165 in Tokyo, Japan, this past January.

Though the Japanese superstar gave it all he got inside the Ariake Arena, the Thai megastar's striking dexterity allowed him to overcome the debutant without much fuss.

To make matters worse, the Team Vasileus athlete suffered multiple injuries to his leg that have kept him out of action since the start of the year.

Takeru is expected to compete again soon, with ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirming that he wants to get the Takeru-Rodtang matchup booked before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Di Bella lost his gold after missing hydration and withdrawing due to an illness leading up to his planned clash versus Prajanchai PK Saenchai at ONE Friday Fights 58 in April.

However, he is back to full fitness and will face the Thai for the vacant strawweight kickboxing world title in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 68 inside the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on June 28.
