Following his leg injury recovery, Conor McGregor started promoting his Octagon return last year by coaching 'The Ultimate Fighter Season 31' against Michael Chandler. Unfortunately, TUF 32 featuring Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko has been broadcast without McGregor and Chandler fighting.
Conor McGregor plans to make highly-anticipated UFC return against Michael Chandler later this year
On June 29, Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler were scheduled to headline UFC 303 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before the highly-anticipated matchup could play out, McGregor pulled out due to a broken toe, extending the longer-than-expected layoffs of him and Chandler.
During an interview with Diario AS, McGregor was asked when he will return to the Octagon, as there have been conflicting reports. The former two-division UFC champion provided a positive update about his fight against Chandler by saying:
"I had my fight and it had to get postponed. But we're still, that's still going to happen this year, end of this year. The talk is the end of this year. So, I'd like to finish out the year with that, then I've got one left, so we'll see what happens after that."
Michael Chandler last fought in November 2022 when he suffered a third-round submission loss against Dustin Poirier. Since then, 'Iron' has patiently waited for his opportunity to fight McGregor, which the MMA community has questioned. Only time will tell if Chandler's commitment to the matchup is worth the wait.
