Terence Crawford responds to Eddie Hearn's criticism of the Israil Madrimov fight
The aftermath of Terence Crawford's unanimous decision victory over Israil Madrimov has been marked by controversy, with promoter Eddie Hearn vehemently criticizing the scorecards.
Hearn was particularly incensed by the 116-112 scorecard, arguing that it didn't accurately reflect the fight's closeness. The Matchroom Boxing chief claimed Madrimov landed the more effective punches and that Crawford's victory margin was exaggerated.
Hearn said post-fight:
"It's a waste of time... It's not a 116-112 fight. He's coming into the fight as a champion but because he's fighting Terence Crawford he doesn't get a shake." [H/t: DAZN]
Crawford responded to Hearn's criticism during the post-fight press conference, dismissing the promoter's comments as expected behavior.
"You've got to understand. That's his fighter. He's going to say anything that he can to hype it up. You know that guy lost and so do his team, and so do he."
