Former UFC lightweight title challenger and resident action man 'Iron' Michael Chandler was in attendance at the historic Noche UFC 306 event last weekend. The historic fight card, which transpired inside the Sphere in Las Vegas, was put together in commemoration of Mexican Independence Day.
Alongside Chandler in a crowd full of celebrities and fellow MMA stars was UFC heavyweight champ Jon 'Bones' Jones. The two were photographed talking to each other and posing for the camera.
'Iron' uploaded the snaps on Instagram, with the caption:
"MAIN AND CO-MAIN #UFC309 - Biggest card of 2024 at the world’s most iconic arena. - Walk on. - See you at the top!"

Michael Chandler and Jon Jones to headline and co-headline UFC 309 at MGS
As mentioned in his caption, Michael Chandler and Jon Jones will be the marquee names for the massive UFC 309 event in Madison Square Garden on Nov. 16. Jones will defend his UFC heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic in the main event while Chandler will rematch Charles Oliveira in the co-main event.
Both fights are two of the most anticipated and sought-after this year, as 'Iron' and 'Bones' haven't been in action for over a year. Jones was last seen inside the octagon in March last year where he submitted Cyril Gane for the title in the first round. He was scheduled to face two-time UFC heavyweight champ Miocic in November of the same year but had to pull out due to injury.
As for Chandler, his last fight was a loss against Dustin Poirier in November 2022. Since then, he has campaigned for over a year to face Conor McGregor in a big comeback fight. The fight was finally booked to take place at UFC 303 in June this year but was canceled due to McGregor getting injured. He is now set to face Oliveira in a rematch of their title fight in 2021, which Chandler lost.
By the time UFC 309 comes around, it would have been over a year since Jones fought while Chandler would be entering the cage for the first time in two years. Let's see if the absence affects their performances on fight night.
