Max Holloway has been getting in steady work while figuring out the specifics for his next octagon assignment. He is on the heels of one of the most incredible wins in MMA history after winning the BMF title with a buzzer-beater knockout in the final round of his fight with former UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje that saw Holloway win the BMF title at UFC 300.

Many are chomping at the bit to know what's next and it seems like Holloway is staying diligent and focused amid that uncertainty.

The former UFC featherweight champion has posted photos of getting into strength and conditioning work with Darin Yap of Tactical Strength in Hawaii. Yap made an appearance in the last snap of a recent photo dump that the popular UFC star posted to Instagram, with Holloway captioning the post:

"Patiently waiting #blessedexpress"

Max Holloway and what many think he's waiting for

While 'the blessed' express is making a stop at this proverbial station, it is still on the tracks and Max Holloway seems like he's embarking on a path towards another belt.

The man who just snatched the BMF belt in what many saw as an underdog victory would seem to next have in his crosshairs a belt that he is very familiar with where Holloway would also be the underdog again in the eyes of many.

The 32-year-old has been rumoured to next be fighting the current UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria. The 15-0 professional mixed martial artist is looking to make his first title defense after finishing Alexander Volkanovski with a right hook in the second round at UFC 298 in February.

'Blessed' seems like a leading candidate to have a chance to snatch a strap that he has not held for almost five years now. Holloway initially lost his 145-pound belt to the aforementioned Alexander Volkanovski and failed to regain it in two subsequent efforts against 'The Great'. This trilogy series took place at UFC 245, UFC 251, and UFC 276, respectively.

Since that three-fight arc with Volk wrapped up though, the Hawaii native has put together a three-fight winning streak over ranked contenders across multiple divisions.

Holloway recently bested the aforementioned Justin Gaethje but previously defeated Arnold Allen and Chan Sung Jung. It would seem like Max Holloway will be getting another crack at the belt although a date and location are far from solidified for a potential title bid versus Topuria.
