Ireland's justice minister Helen McEntee has extended her support to Nikita Hand for taking Conor McGregor to a civil court. Hand recently won a civil lawsuit after accusing McGregor of raping her in a Dublin hotel in Dec. 2018.
For context, McGregor claimed in front of the jury that they had a consensual encounter in 2018, while Hand claimed the UFC star forced himself on her. The former two-division champion was found liable for assaulting Hand, and he will be required to compensate her with over $250,000.
According to BBC News, McEntee praised Hand for her courage and demonstrating a strong will to bring this tragedy to light. She said:
''I just want to commend Nikita for her bravery, for her determination and the leadership that she has shown in what has been - I've no doubt - a very, very difficult time for her and indeed, for her family. Because of wonderful people like Nikita, I hope that it shows that there is light at the end of the tunnel, that there are supports available to people, and that there is justice at the end of the day.''

Many MMA personalities have expressed their thoughts on McGregor being proven guilty, including Jake Shields, who is close friends with the Irishman's former foe Nate Diaz.
Shields reacted to an X post by activist and content creator Keith Woods regarding Hand's testimony, in which she stated that the former two-division champion choked her to exert control and expressed his feelings about his UFC submission defeats.
''Conor and I aren't on the best of terms but there is almost zero percent chance a fighter would say this. She also never pursued criminal charges Just wanted $$''
