Despite training with Ben Davison, Anthony Joshua is reportedly sticking with Derrick James.

It's been a weird year or two for 'AJ' to put it mildly. Following his first loss to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021, the former champion left longtime coach Rob McCracken in favor of Robert Garcia. While a great effort against 'The Cat' the following year, he again came up short.

Once again, Joshua changed coaches in late 2022, pairing with Houston's Derrick James. The trainer has worked with names such as Errol Spence Jr. and Ryan Garcia and has already guided the former champion to two straight wins.

Now awaiting his next assignment, Anthony Joshua was recently seen training with Ben Davison. The coach is known for working with the likes of Tyson Fury, helping guide him back to fighting in 2018. Quickly, there were reports that Joshua was looking to move on from yet another coach.

However, that appears to not be the case here. As first reported by Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Joshua isn't moving from Derrick James. Rather, he's just getting work with additional trainers as he waits for his next fight announcement.

Anthony Joshua teases news surrounding Deontay Wilder bout

Anthony Joshua believes a fight with Deontay Wilder is still expected for 2024.

'AJ' and 'The Bronze Bomber' were famously in talks for most of this year for a fight in Saudi Arabia. However, despite both men agreeing to a fight in December, financial difficulties blew up the contest.

After Saudi Arabia's Skill Challenge Promotions repeatedly went back on their offered purses, Eddie Hearn began looking at other destinations. The U.K. and Las Vegas were quickly targeted for early 2024.

However, it seems that Anthony Joshua vs. Deontay Wilder is still alive for Saudi Arabia. 'AJ' recently discussed the potential fight in an interview with Sky Sports. He said the bout could happen on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk.

That is if that bout can't happen on its slated December 23 fight date. Speaking in the interview, Joshua stated:

“They want to put Usyk v Fury and Joshua v Wilder on the same night. When Fury gets through Ngannou, it is going to be late October going into November, so I doubt he will prepare for Usyk and then fight in December. It is too short. So, the next window will be in March or April and that is when the undisputed fight will happen. What we are being told is that they want to make it a mega-card.”
