Umar Nurmagomedov recently shared an update on his hand after breaking it during his fight against Merab Dvalishvili. The UFC bantamweight also shared a snap of his post-surgery X-ray, which elicited a reaction from the MMA community online.
Nurmagomedov went up against Dvalishvili in a bantamweight title fight at UFC 311 last weekend. Despite some early success, Dvalishvili's cardio and pressure proved too much for Nurmagomedov, and after five rounds of action, 'The Machine' successfully defended the 135-pound title via unanimous decision.
It was later revealed that Nurmagomedov broke his hand in the first round of the fight and had to power through the injury for the remainder of the bout. He later went into surgery to fix his hand.

Chael Sonnen on Merab Dvalishvili beating Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311
Chael Sonnen recently shared his thoughts on Umar Nurmagomedov's UFC 311 loss against Merab Dvalishvili. The UFC icon lauded Dvalishvili for his tenacity in the cage and his unrelenting pressure.
In a YouTube video, Sonnen labeled Dvalishvili as the most "dominant" bantamweight of all time. Admitting that Nurmagomedov weighed heavy on the champion in the opening round, he said:
"This is the most dominant 135 pounder ever. He lost every single aspect in the first round. Merab starts to get his confidence and he’s got a conditioning that can’t be explained and it can’t be taught. Don’t bother trying to find Merab’s workout and doing it. That is DNA. That is Merab’s superpower and he started to find that in round three. This is incredible. He got that title opportunity after winning ten in a row, go back and check those scoreboards. He’s going through everybody."
