It appears as though Henry Cejudo's next fight is all but confirmed and fast approaching. The former two-division UFC champion is reportedly set to challenge reigning bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling at UFC 288 on May 6.
Cejudo will be returning to the octagon for the first time since UFC 249 in 2020, where he defeated Dominick Cruz via TKO to retain his bantamweight championship. During his post-fight interview, he announced his retirement from the sport and relinquished his title.
Despite hanging up his gloves, he has remained active in a coaching capacity for the past three years at Fight Ready MMA, which has seen him work with and help many of the sport's top fighters, including reigning champions Weili Zhang and Jon Jones.
During his absence, Sterling has emerged as the man to beat at 135 pounds and will look to extend his title reign and further legitimize his status by defeating Cejudo, who never lost the title.

'Funk Master' has been dealing with a torn bicep, which is why there has been a delay in the fight being announced. But it looks like the wheels are in motion for them to fight in May as they were both in attendance at UFC 285 and separated by security backstage.
It will be interesting to see whether 'Triple C' performs in his return to the octagon and whether he can regain the bantamweight championship, especially considering that he hasn't fought in three years.
Henry Cejudo correctly predicted Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane outcome
Henry Cejudo is a fighter who has been praised by many for his high fight IQ and the result in the UFC 285 main event is perhaps further proof of that.
'Triple C' posted a video to his Twitter page that showed him offering advice to Jones on gaining a more favorable position against a heavyweight like Gane. He detailed exactly how 'Bon Gamin' would attempt to defend a takedown and how 'Bones' could use that as leverage to change his position and secure a choke.
The video foreshadowed exactly what would transpire in the fight as Jones managed to change his positioning and take Gane down, controlling him against the cage before submitting him.
