Kevin Holland is a second-degree black belt in Kung Fu and also has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. 'Trailblazer' began training in martial arts at the age of 16, but wasn't aware of MMA at the time, first watching the sport after ordering UFC 100.
While speaking with Philly Voice, Holland stated that George St-Pierre was one of the first fighters he idolized and also mentioned the likes of Frank Mir and Anderson Silva as his early MMA idols. Since transitioning to the UFC, the 29-year-old has been involved in a couple of crime-fighting incidents and has credited his Kung Fu training for his heroic actions.
Holland stated to ESPN that while training Kung Fu, his main focus was on self-defence:
"I started off in Kung Fu before I did any type of martial art. Self-defense first."

The two fighters will be headlining UFC Fight Night: Orlando in December. The 29-year-old stated that his kung fu will guide him to victory against 'Wonderboy':
"I like to think I’m pretty crafty, too. I think I can figure it out. I think my Kung Fu beats his Karate."
How many UFC wins via TKO/KO does Kevin Holland currently have?
Kevin Holland currently has five wins via TKO/KO since joining the UFC in 2018. 'Trailblazer' has had 13 TKO/KO victories in his entire professional MMA career, with six more wins coming via submission.
Despite losing eight professional MMA bouts, Holland has never been knocked out, with his three stoppage losses all coming via submission. The 29-year-old's five other professional MMA losses came via decision.
