ONE Championship’s founder and CEO Chatri Sityodtong is happy to put his ONE world champions up against the UFC’s best in a cross-promotional showdown.
Following another spectacular weekend of back-to-back events all capped off with the crowning of new ONE strawweight world champion, Jarred Brooks, the ONE CEO spoke with the media during the ONE 164 post-fight press conference.
While there, he discussed the possibility of a ONE Championship vs. UFC event pitting each organization’s champions against one another:
“I would love to see a UFC versus ONE champion versus champion. I believe we’ll win our fair share, I believe they’d win some too. But I do believe we’re a better r. Like I said, if you look at roster quality, what is an average athlete in ONE?”

Sityodtong continued, saying:
“He or she’s a world champion in one discipline or more prior to joining ONE like a ‘Buchecha’ or something at the highest level. Or like Anatoly, who is a Russian wrestling champion and an amateur MMA world champion. The pedigree of these guys is on a different level.”
While an event pitting the two global organizations together like that is highly unlikely, you can never say never. In the end, the two organizations did work together on the first-ever trade in MMA when the UFC sent Demetrious Johnson to ONE in exchange for former ONE world champion Ben Askren.

ONE Championship CEO says their storylines are better than that of the North American rival
When it comes to storylines in the world of mixed martial arts, the ONE Championship CEO believes his promotion stands above their North American rival.
With multiple combat sports represented inside the circle and the introduction of mixed rules bouts, ONE Championship is the global leader in combat sports innovation.
In an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Chatri Sityodtong discussed ONE's ability to innovate, creating intriguing matchups and more interesting storylines compared to their rival that seemingly promotes forced animosity and physical assaults on one another to sell tickets:
“Obviously, the UFC is our biggest competitor. They are the world’s MMA organisation. We’re the world’s largest martial arts organization. But I think we have far more interesting storylines if you look going forward, what we can do with our platform and our athletes.”
