Robert Trujillo grew up as a boxer in his hometown of Raton and began competing in MMA as an amateur in 2013. After stacking an amateur record of 11-2, he turned pro in May 2019 and went undefeated while competing in regionally promoted shows. He has also trained with fighters like Donald Cerrone, Justin Gaethje, and Brandon Moreno.

Interestingly, 'The Real Deal' has a whole day dedicated to him in Raton, New Mexico. Trujillo's contributions to the local community and his success as an MMA fighter were the main reasons behind city officials dedicating April 24 to him.

With a whole day dedicated to him and the undying support of his local community, Trujillo is well-motivated to overcome any challenge that comes before him. Winning the Power Slap League title is one of his main goals.
In a recent interview, he discussed what drove him to give his all to win the title:
"My MMA career has been great. I got my own day in my little city of Raton, New Mexico. I used to go to the schools with my championship titles and talk to the kids and my community really supports me. They've had my back... It was kind of weird why I chose Power Slap... I wanted to show what kind of power smaller guys have and the type of chin I got."
