Israel Adesanya has called Alex Pereira 'one-dimensional' ahead of their highly awaited title fight at UFC 281.

On Saturday night, the UFC will hold one of its most stacked cards at the historic Madison Square Garden. With two title fights and a top 5 clash in the lightweight division, the card promises to be worth the price.

Ahead of the fight, 'The Last Stylebender' had some words for his opponent:

"He's very one-dimensional, he's very early on in the game as well. So I'm even glad to get him now..I don't know who he has in his corner, I know he has Glover (Teixeira) and this boxing coach, I don't know what their background is I don't really mind, I just worry about me. But I definitely know that he's not as smart as me in the cage, I know that for a fact."

Alex Pereira is the only man to beat Israel Adesanya twice, and the only man to knock him out as well. The pair have fought twice before during their Glory Kickboxing days. 'Poatan' went on to make history as a two-division champion in the organization. He then transitioned to the UFC, and in just his 4th fight he gets to fight the middleweight champion.

Israel Adesanya has not brought his UFC belt to the United States for his fight with Alex Pereira

Israel Adesanya has revealed that he does not carry around his UFC middleweight champion belt for his fights. 'The Last Stylebender' is set to fight Alex Pereira this Saturday, and has the opportunity to successfully defend his title for the 7th time since beating Robert Whittaker in 2019. In an interview with Ariel Helwani for The MMA Hour, he spoke about why he does not carry his belt around:

"They give me like a temporary one (belt) and then I give it back, backstage. I take it to the afterparty if I want...Man, carrying around is just, it's heavy but also sometimes it's just the attention it brings, especially at the airport, yeah."

Israel Adesanya has had the same belt he won when he beat Kelvin Gastelum to become the UFC Interim middleweight champion. He has since added 7 rubies to the belt and made more personal modifications to it.
