Israel Adesanya shares eye-opening take on the Islam Makhachev vs. Jon Jones pound-for-pound debate

There has been much buzz around the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings, and Israel Adesanya offered an eye-opening view regarding the same in a recent interview. Islam Makhachev is currently No. 1 in the rankings.

While many believe Jon Jones is the pound-for-pound No. 1 due to his decorated career, UFC CEO Dana White turned on Jones after Makhachev's recent title defense at UFC 311.

While speaking to Shakiel Mahjouri on his podcast, Shak MMA, Adesanya was asked about his view on the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings, to which he replied:

"I don't think about it. That's kind of subjective, you know, this is mixed martial arts, art is subjective. So, whoever you think is the pound-for-pound. Also, they need to have the body of work to support it, but, yeah, it could be anyone in the top five, whoever you like."

When Sharabutdin Magomedov called out Israel Adesanya after a vicious knockout victory at UFC 308

Israel Adesanya is currently on a two-fight losing streak and is braced up for a return to the octagon against Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Fight Night 250. He suffered consecutive losses against Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis at UFC 293 and UFC 305 respectively.

Sharabutdin Magomedov called out the former middleweight champion after securing a dominant victory over Armen Petrosyan at UFC 308. In the post-fight media interaction, 'Bullet' revealed his plans to take on Adesanya if the "possibility" arises.

"You know, I chased Israel Adesanya when he was kickboxing in China, I was in kickboxing in China too. Now that he switched to MMA, and I'm here to capture all the land, and I'm ready to fight him, and if the possibility presents itself, I'm ready to fight with him."
