Israil Madrimov's religion is of great importance to him, and will be in his corner when he faces Terence Crawford in defense of his WBA super welterweight title, with both men trying to capture the vacant WBO interim super welterweight belt. If he emerges victorious, Madrimov will enthrone himself among Uzbekistan's best.

But where is Madrimov from? Moreso, what is his religious background? Madrimov is Muslim, as are most citizens of Uzbekistan. Not only is he a follower of the Islamic faith, he is a devout Muslim, who holds his religion as one of the most important aspects of his life, both personal and professional.

Madrimov was born in Khiva, a small city in the Khozam Region of Uzbekistan. He has represented his home country on the national and international stage at the amateur level. He must be determined to do his country proud this Saturday, when he faces Crawford.

It marks the greatest challenge of his career, and his most important matchup to date. Madrimov is a significant underdog in most people's eyes, with many expecting Crawford to emerge victorious on Aug. 3. However, their respective skill-sets, plus the size difference, could lead to a more interesting clash.

In betting terms, Madrimov is a live dog. He is powerful, skilled, and much larger than Crawford, which could lend itself to a much closer bout than expected. Ahead of the fight, Madrimov looks to be in tremendous physical condition, so he seems to be taking the bout more seriously than he has any other.

His fellow countrymen will await his daunting challenge this Saturday with bated breath. But Madrimov is nothing if not confident.

Israil Madrimov has never fought professionally in Uzbekistan

Israil Madrimov is 10-0-1, but never in his professional career has he fought in Uzbekistan. While he has certainly fought on home soil during his amateur days, the same cannot be said for him now. He has, however, fought in the birthplace of Islam, Saudi Arabia, a milestone for him as a Muslim athlete.

The aforementioned matchup took place this year on March 8, when he TKO'd Magomed Kurbanov on the undercard of the Francis Ngannou vs. Anthony Joshua event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
