ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci knows the ins and outs of being a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and offered some words of advice to parents hoping to get their kids invested in the sport.
'Darth Rigatoni' said the following in an interview with ONE Championship:
"I think a lot of parents push their kids too much to do certain things, and then you'll see the kid ends up quitting jiu-jitsu because they hate it. It has to come from inside. The parent has to do a good job in making the kid choose what passion they want and to stick with it. It has to come from the kid."
A lifelong BJJ athlete himself, Mikey Musumeci's words ring true as he started training at the age of four alongside his sister Tammi Musumeci, where they both found great success at the highest levels of the sport.

Mikey Musumeci eyeing retribution at ONE 167
The Evolve MMA representative will have an opportunity to claim one of his losses back as he rematches Gabriel Sousa at ONE 167 on June 7.
With the Brazilian star being the only man to ever submit Musumeci in his career thus far, Musumeci posted on Instagram his desire to get that loss back:
"The amount of sacrifice and discipline I had since the beginning of this year in my preparation I haven't had in many years! I have this rebel fire energy again in me."
Additionally, their bout inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand will see Musumeci make his bantamweight submission grappling debut.
ONE 167 will air live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
