"It felt pretty good, as time went on. Not many people know and I don't like being that person that's like ‘Oh my head was hurting that day or Oh I had a broken leg’ but during that week before fighting in a grappling match against her for the first time, I had a torn rotator cuff so I couldn't really move my elbow. But at the time, I was one of those people that didn't want to back out of a match because I kind of was training for it."
Kelly continued:
"Also looking back, I felt like they were kind of pushing her cause she just had gotten her black belt and that was her black belt debut match against me. So going back and being able to beat her, it definitely was a great feeling because I knew she was beatable."
Kelly was thrilled with her win. But now, she's moving on to face one of Khan's more esteemed teammates in a highly anticipated rematch.
