“It hurts but it doesn’t hurt mentality” - Kade Ruotolo on the difference between him and twin brother Tye

Reigning and undisputed ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo of the United States and his twin brother, Tye Ruotolo, are two peas in a pod. But there's a stark difference between them that Kade says separates the two.

It's how they approach adversity and conflict.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Kade talked about how he deals with adversity, as compared to Tye, the ONE welterweight submission grappling world champion.

The 21-year-old phenom said:

“I’m like my dad. I’m old school. If I’m hurt, I’m just like, ‘I’m not hurt, I’m fine.’ I just try to keep a ‘you know, I’m fine. It hurts but it doesn’t hurt mentality. Because, I know in the match, adrenaline usually takes the pain away. I’m always kinda neglecting my injuries, and Tye is always taking care of his, so that’s probably one of the main differences.”

Needless to say, the twin phenoms are two of the most well-conditioned athletes in the game today, and they always come to compete at their best.
