Michael 'Venom' Page and Shara Magomedov are set to clash in the co-main event of UFC's return to Saudi Arabia on Feb 1. The bout, announced by UFC CEO Dana White, will see Page make his middleweight debut against the undefeated Magomedov at the ANB Arena in Riyadh.
Both fighters bring striking prowess to the cage, with Page warning Magomedov about the dangers of relying on takedowns. In an interview with Michael Bisping, Page shared his prediction:
"I think he will be a lot more stubborn in believing in his ability. so I think I'd definitely be landing some crazy shots if he decides to go for a takedown, cause like I said, I think he in his mind he believes he's the best when it comes to the striking game. So it will take a few knocks before he decides to change that. Yeah and maybe it might be too little too late so... I think he'll be very bloodied up if he is going for a takedown."

When Shara Magomedov's coach admitted that matchup against Michael 'Venom' Page would be difficult
Shara Magomedov’s coach, Gor Azizyan, has acknowledged the unique challenge Michael 'Venom' Page poses as an opponent. Known for his unconventional karate-based style, Page’s unpredictable striking and fluid movement make him a tough matchup for any fighter.
In an interview with Red Corner MMA, Azizyan expressed respect for Page’s distinctive skill set, saying:
“I think it’s going to be a great fight because he is also quite a unique fighter. Awkward style, throwing weird strikes, like a Karate approach to striking… I think style-wise he is not an easy opponent for Sharabutdin… Look at the way he moves, nobody fights like that.”
While Azizyan respects Page’s abilities, he remains optimistic about Magomedov’s chances, particularly due to his relentless pressure. Azizyan highlighted the importance of low kicks in countering Page’s movement:
“He doesn’t like to get low-kicked as I can see…Against Page, it’s going to be 70/30 in favor of kicks…The point is, he never faced the pressure Shara brings and it’s that pressure that may force him to do things.”
