Although Kongthoranee Sor Sommai only made his splashing debut in February last year, he's now aiming for the big guns.

His next task, which would be the toughest in his career so far, is the reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9. The two will clash in the co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 68 on June 28, just a couple of months before Superlek's title challenge in September.

Looking back on his tough upbringing in rural Thailand, Kongthoranee still can't believe that he's competing with the best fighters in the world's largest martial arts organization.

Speaking to ONE Championship, the Thai star who's always humble but striving for greatness said:

"It's overwhelming – from a country boy who became an athlete for a world-class sports organization."

Moreover, Kongthoranee carries an ultimate goal in his mind, which is to bring home 26 pounds of ONE Championship gold.

He added:

"I still don’t think I’m successful yet. It’s only the beginning for me. I still have a long way to go. Every fighter wants to become a ONE World Champion, and I’m one of them, too."

And regardless of the results in his next appearance against one of the biggest striking stars in his homeland, it is certain that the young martial artist would still be able to make his mark in this sport.

Superlek doesn't take Kongthoranee lightly in ONE Friday Fights 68

ONE flyweight kickboxing king and No. 1 Muay Thai contender Superlek is not taking anything for granted ahead of his fight against Kongthoranee Sor Sommai at ONE Friday Fights 68.

The Thai superstar is aware that Kongthoranee possesses great skills that can match his when he speaks to South China Morning Post recently:

"His power is there, you can actually see. And since he entered ONE Lumpinee since he entered ONE Championship, he's on a win streak, as you can see. So now he's very confident, and he's on top of his game. So, of course, I would see him as dangerous."

But fans should not forget about Superlek's thrilling performance when he nabbed a victory against Japan's kickboxing icon Takeru Segawa, which was also a highlight of its own.
