UFC color commentator Joe Rogan raised eyebrows with recent speculations that a phone call between Joe Biden and Kamala Harris was AI-generated. Rogan commented on the call shortly after Biden announced that would be opting out of reelection and supporting Harris as the nominee of the Democratic party.
During a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, the 56-year-old and standup comedian Bridget Phetasy examined a video that tested the authenticity of the Biden-Harris interaction using AI-detection software. The video uploaded on ElevenLabs, a software company that specializes in developing natural-sounding speech using AI, initially suggested a 98% probability that it was AI-generated.
Meanwhile, Rogan's producer pointed out that the calculation might be the result of a software glitch. However, Rogan was adamant pinpointing that the call had an artificial quality to it. He said:
"[It] sounded like AI to me it sounded like there's a weird ... there's a weird fake expression, there's a, there's a smell, like when you, you hear, it there's a smell. It just seems, there's something—the 'heart and soul into me,' it's 'something into me,' it's like, it's a robot talking, it's Ex Machina."

Nevertheless, the phone call which was intended to reaffirm Biden's support and involvement in the upcoming United States presidential elections, was generated using AI voice cloning technology is false. According to DW Fact check, the video is a "fabricated demonstration," and a test using Trumedia, corroborated that the "likelihood of the audio being AI-generated is minimal."
Furthermore, the official ElevenLabs account on X also responded to the viral video, stating:
"The user runs a different clip through our speech classifier than the phone call played in the video to create the false impression it was created on our platform. You can always run the audio through our AI Speech Classifier to check results yourself."

During a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, the UFC color commentator criticized Joe Biden while discussing several other topics with American author James Lindsay.
Biden's third State of the Union address received a critical assessment from netizens who speculated that the American politician was "probably filled with Adderall" before the speech. Touching upon the speculations, Rogan said:
"What cocktail do you think they have him on when he goes gives those speeches?" Whatever they [Biden's staff] give him, it's gotta be extraordinary. I mean, whatever they gave him must be extraordinary because you could tell he's ramped up."
