ONE welterweight submission grappling world champion Tye Ruotolo will no doubt be in his twin brother's corner for his upcoming title defense at ONE 168: Denver.

On September 6, live in US primetime, Kade Ruotolo will figure in every BJJ fan's dream fight when he defends his lightweight grappling submission world title against fellow superstar Mikey Musumeci at Ball Arena.

While Tye will come in as a cornerman, he admits he'll also enter this showdown as a big fan of arguably two of the best pound-for-pound grapplers in the world.

Speaking with Sportskeeda MMA's Nick Atkin, the youngest IBJJF world champion explained the magnitude of this colossal matchup for the BJJ and grappling communities:

"It's going to be epic. I'm so excited to see that. Mikey is such a beast, so technical, and so is my brother. So for sure, it's going to be good for jiu-jitsu. It's the most exciting guys. Yeah, it will be epic."

The biggest storyline for this matchup, of course, is Musumeci moving up three weight classes to become a two-division world champion.

While 'Darth Rigatoni' has vanquished bigger opposition in the past, no doubt the electric and highly technical Kade Ruotolo will be his biggest challenge yet.

Tye Ruotolo taking a breather after intense win over Jozef Chen

Tye Ruotolo weathered some adversity over the weekend at ONE Fight Night 23, where he had to dig deep to beat his gutsy foe Jozef Chen.

Their 10-minute grappling masterclass was truly a joy to watch and featured non-stop action from start to finish.

Ruotolo later revealed he dealt with lingering issues with his neck, causing him great discomfort during the match.

The Atos stud wants to rest and recuperate in time for his scheduled appearance at the Craig Jones Invitational in August, and possibly make his MMA debut before the year ends.

Prime Video subscribers in North America can watch the replay of ONE Fight Night 23 on demand, free of charge.
