Ian Machado Garry last entered the octagon in June as he beat Michael 'Venom' Page via unanimous decision at UFC 303 to remain undefeated. He appeared set to return against Joaquin Buckley at UFC on ESPN 63 next weekend in the first main event of his UFC career, however, he will now face Shavkat Rakhmonov in a welterweight title eliminator at UFC 310 this weekend.
The No.7-ranked welterweight will have Charles Oliveira in his corner for the bout. Championship Rounds shared the news on Tuesday after Garry had announced the same on his YouTube Q&A, tweeting:
"🚨 Ian Garry reveals that Charles Oliveira will be in his corner for his fight against Shavkat at #UFC310 👀"

Fans shared their reactions to the news. @ITSDAFANTA claimed that having Oliveira in his corner will not save Garry from Rakhmonov:
"W aura but it’s not gonna save him from getting smashed Saturday night"
@bull_invests shared that they love the duo:
"Love this duo"
@RealSladeJoseph revealed that they are unsure how to feel about the two fighters working together:
"As a Do Bronx fan and Ian Garry hater idk how to feel about this"
@TheCSMatrixer believes that Rakhmonov should have Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev in his corner:
"Shavkat should get Khabib and Islam in his corner. In one of Shavkat’s earlier fights, he had Abdulmanap (Khabib’s dad) in his corner. He no longer trains with Khabib and his team but he definitely had some ties to Khabib and his team back in the day"

Ian Machado Garry sets lofty goal ahead of UFC 310 return
Ian Machado Garry has been open about his desire to face Colby Covington. The former three-time welterweight title challenger will now face Joaquin Buckley at UFC on ESPN 63, one week after UFC 310. 'The Future' recently shared that he is not ruling out facing 'Chaos'.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, the No.7-ranked welterweight claimed:
"I've been screaming and shouting about fighting that man from the rafters. This man's made videos about me, my wife, my kids, talked all this s**t and here's this man avoiding me like the plague... I would love to beat Shavkat and the following week, fight as the main event in Tampa and bury Colby Covington and leave him dead and done in that octagon never to be seen again."

While Machado Garry has interest in facing Covington the very next week, it is unlikely to come to fruition. Even if he is able to emerge victorious without any injuries in his UFC 310 clash with Shavkat Rakhmonov, the UFC is unlikely to pull Buckley from the card after already changing his opponent.
