Veteran striker Anissa Meksen will try to make another go at a ONE world tite in her scheduled return to action next month and is excited to finally break through.
'C18' will vie for the inaugural women's strawweight kickboxing world title against Filipino-American fighter Jackie Buntan at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8 in Thailand. Anissa Meksen made a bid for the ONE interim atomweight kickboxing world title but fell short, losing to Thai sensation Phetjeeja by decision. It was also her first loss in four matches in ONE Championship since making her promotional debut in September 2021.
Meanwhile, just like Meksen, Buntan is shooting anew at a world title belt after vying for the inaugural ONE strawweight Muay Thai strap in April 2022 but lost to Sweden's Smilla Sundell by decision. She has since bounced back from the defeat, winning three straight, with her most recent victory back in March by decision over Italian Martine Michieletto.
Showdown between Jackie Buntan and Anissa Meksen one of four title matches featured at ONE 169
The clash between Jackie Buntan and Anissa Meksen for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title is one of four championship matches featured at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8 in Thailand.
It joins the headlining contest that will see three-division MMA world champion Anatoly Malykhin of Russia defending his heavyweight strap against Senegalese challenger Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane. It will be Malykhin's first defense of the heavyweight gold since unifying the division's belts with a TKO win over erstwhile champion Arjan Bhullar in June last year.
Serving as the co-headliner at ONE 169, meanwhile, is the sixth defense of ONE flyweight Muay Thai champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon since becoming divisional king in August 2019. He will take on familiar foe Jacob Smith of the United Kingdom in a rematch of their first encounter in May 2022, where 'The Iron Man' won by decision.
Then there is the long-awaited return of double ONE world champion Christian Lee from a self-imposed break (personal), where he will defend his lightweight belt against blue-chip opponent Alibeg Rasulov of Turkey.
Apart from the title fights, ONE 169 also offers other topnotch MMA, kickboxing and Muay Thai matches.
