Sean O'Malley recently showered high praise for retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. The No.1-ranked bantamweight opened up on how watching videos of the undefeated boxer inspired him.
Speaking on his podcast, TimboSugarShow, O'Malley stated:
"I was watching a bunch of Floyd stuff, but that motherf**ker would train like three or four times a day, like an hour at a time. Hit the bags, but constantly having his heart rate probably - I don't know, nothing spiked, maybe too crazy, but you see him hit mitts, hit the bag. Dude, it's so f**king sweet. 50-0, retired at the top, didn't lose. It's inspirational. I'm trying to be 50-0."
O'Malley continued to heap praise on Mayweather, adding:

"Didn't get knocked out. Had some hard fights. Fought the best guys. Just his work ethic. You don't get 50-0, you don't become Floyd without a crazy work ethic. It's constantly running, hitting the bag, hitting mitts, but it's like that motherf**ker had chicks around him all day when he wasn't so he found balance. He has some serious genes, some serious athletic genes."
Mayweather retired with a perfect record of 50-0, with 27 knockout victories. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers ever to live, and easily the most popular and highest-earning fighter of all time.

Sean O'Malley believes that he is the next fighter who will bring the Conor McGregor 'feel'
Sean O'Malley does not have a fight scheduled after defeating Petr Yan at UFC 280. However, he is likely to fight for the title in his next appearance in the octagon. The No.1-ranked bantamweight recently shared that he believes he will be the next fighter that can bring the feeling that Conor McGregor brought to the UFC.
Speaking to Helen Yee, O'Malley stated:
"I've been watching, recently, a bunch of old Conor stuff, like the best moments they have, embeddeds, countdowns and lead-ups. The UFC is missing that Conor feel. That massive fight feel, and I do believe that I'm the next guy to bring that feeling to the people. That's what we're missing. I miss it. I miss the giant Conor fights."
While O'Malley will likely get his first opportunity at the bantamweight title in 2023, McGregor has teased that he will also return at some point this year. The former double champ has not fought since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021.
