Earlier this year, Harrison announced his retirement from Muay Thai, with one more potential fight taking place in the United Kingdom. Since then, the striking legend has revealed he received an offer he couldn't refuse from ONE, re-sparking his fighting career at 39 years old.

During an interview with ONE, Harrison talked about his decision to quickly end his retirement. He had this to say about being motivated by Sam-A:

“It was supposed to be my last fight coming back, but let’s just see how it goes. I’m looking at people like Sam-A, who have looked after themselves. He had some time off, and now he’s come back and doing so well, so it’s inspiring."

At 41 years old, Sam-A has already solidified himself as an all-time great striker. With that said, the seasoned veteran continues to build his resume, securing wins against Akram Hamidi (Muay Thai) and Zhang Peimian (kickboxing) in 2024.

Heading into 2025, Sam-A is knocking on the doorstep of a strawweight title shot in either sport. Both straps are owned by Prajanchai PK Saenchai, who holds two promotional Muay Thai wins over Sam-A.

Liam Harrison wants to "go out on a high" after ending short-lived retirement

Liam Harrison's last fight was a catchweight Muay Thai bout against Seksan at ONE 168: Denver. The American crowd was awarded an instant classic that night, as Harrison and Seksan showcased an all-out war.

Seksan secured a second-round knockout against Harrison, spoiling the latter's return party following a two-year layoff. Therefore, Harrison plans to return in 2025 and end his career on a win, which he explained during an interview with ONE:

“I was going to stay away, but ONE gave me a good offer, and I want to go out on a high. When you’re fighting in ONE and the stadiums are full, there’s nothing like it. That’s the best part.”

Liam Harrison is a former three-time Muay Thai world champion. The odds may be stacked against the 39-year-old, but Harrison shouldn't be counted out off a final magical run in ONE Championship.
