Luke Lessei was incredibly happy to have clocked out early in his latest outing under the ONE Championship banner.
Since debuting with the promotion, 'The Chef' has proven himself to be an all-action and must-watch fighter. His wars with the likes of Jo Nattawut and Eddie Abasolo have produced some of the best Muay Thai fights in recent years.
Whilst they've been incredible watches, they've taken a lot out of Luke Lessei and he needed to go back to the drawing board following his latest loss to Bampara Kouyate.
The American came into ONE Fight Night 27 with the intention of showing a different side to his game, and that's exactly what he did.

On Jan. 10, he stopped ONE newcomer Cody Jerome in the first round in a ruthless and strategic performance.
In his post-event press conference, he spoke about being able to reap the rewards of his hard work and success rather than being in recovery:
"Yeah, honestly, like, it's been nine hard rounds in ONE so having this fight, being able to just do like one round, and then I get to come out and just enjoy the rest of my time in here in Thailand, it's a blessing. I don't have to go to the hospital and get my cuts all stitched up, no broken nose or anything. So, I mean, there's no complaints there. I just get to chill now."
Luke Lessei put a lot into this fight
Luke Lessei knew that while he has become a fan-favorite, he needed to make a change if he was going to be competitive whilst staying healthy.
'The Chef' couldn't continue down the path he was heading and whilst he's still going to be involved in classic bouts, it was important to see him make adjustments last time out.
Lessei can now enjoy taking a brief break before he returns to training to get right back to work instead of rehabbing his injuries.
