“It’s his path.”
“The pride of Scotland!”
“Nico ‘Non-Stop’ Carrillo.”
“The Legendary Super Farang.”
The admiration for Carrillo is understandable. Since joining the world’s largest martial arts organization, he has systematically dismantled every opponent, cementing his status as a leading contender in the bantamweight Muay Thai division.
Carrillo entered ONE with a solid reputation but had to earn his stripes through the fiercely competitive ONE Friday Fights series. There, he made an unforgettable debut in April 2023, delivering a third-round stoppage of Furkan Karabag.
Two months later, he secured a coveted spot on the main roster with a dazzling second-round TKO victory over Muangthai PK Saenchai, which also came with a $100,000 contract.
His ascent continued against the toughest competition. Carrillo stunned the combat sports world in December 2023 by knocking out former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama in the first round.
In July 2024, he solidified his title contention with a dominant second-round finish of Saemapetch Fairtex.
Nico Carrillo guns for unification date with Superlek
Originally slated to challenge Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the lineal bantamweight Muay Thai crown at ONE 170, Carrillo’s plans shifted when the Thai megastar withdrew due to a knee injury.
Now, Carrillo will square off against Nabil Anane for the interim title. The stakes couldn’t be higher, as the winner will face Superlek in a world title unification bout at ONE 172 on March 23.
