Mayssa Bastos was overcome with emotion after her world title win over Danielle Kelly.

At ONE Fight Night 24, Bastos had an opportunity to dethrone Kelly of her ONE women's atomweight submission grappling world champion. Following an intense 10-minute battle, the Brazilian superstar defeated Kelly by unanimous decision to claim ONE gold in a special moment of her already illustrious career.

Later that night, Bastos joined the media for a post-fight press conference. The 26-year-old had this to say about what the win meant to her:

"It feels great. Right now, it's really hard for me to describe, but I'm really, really happy."

Before facing Mayssa Bastos, Danielle Kelly held a 3-0-1 promotional record, including wins against Mariia Molchanova, Ayaka Miura, and Jessa Khan.

Meanwhile, Bastos had only competed under the ONE banner once when she defeated Kanae Yamada in her debut match.

ONE Fight Night 24 went down inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The replay of the August 2 event, featuring Kelly vs. Bastos can be seen for free by North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Should Mayssa Bastos face Danielle Kelly in rematch later this year?

Mayssa Bastos was behind on the scorecards at ONE Fight Night 24 due to Danielle Kelly scoring a catch.

The new women's atomweight submission grappling queen later secured her own catch and pursued the judges by continuing to hunt for a submission finish.

Despite Bastos' clutch efforts, some fans believe Kelly deserved to retain the world title. Therefore, an immediate rematch was quickly discussed within the submission grappling community, especially considering how entertaining the 10-minute co-main event was.

Although it's unconfirmed by ONE, Bastos vs. Kelly II would be the perfect matchup to add to a high-profile event later this year. The second meeting would also have high expectations for entertainment, as both world-class grapplers will likely remain active knowing the judges' decision could've gone either way.
