In just a few short hours, Christian Lee will step into the circle for the biggest fight of his mixed martial arts career to date. That’s an especially impressive statement for a fighter with 16 career victories and two lightweight world title reigns on his resume.

‘The Warrior’ will headline the promotion’s latest Amazon Prime Video offering this Friday night in U.S. primetime. Meeting him in the main event will be reigning and defending ONE welterweight champion Kiamrian Abbasov. If ‘The Warrior’ secures a win, he will become one of the few in ONE history to become a two-division world champion.

Stepping up in weight, much has been said about the size and potential power discrepancy he may face against a bigger and stronger opponent like Abbasov.

However, Lee does not believe there is much of a difference between the top lightweight stars and the welterweight elite. In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Lee said:

“In my opinion, you take the top five guys at the lightweight and the top five guys at welterweight, it’s somewhat of a wash. I don’t see either division having an advantage over the other.”

That theory will be tested live and for free to Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America this Friday night.

Christian Lee believes skill will be a bigger factor than size in ONE on Prime Video 4 main event

Though much has been said about the disadvantages that Christian Lee could face stepping up to the welterweight division at ONE on Prime Video 4 on Friday night, ‘The Warrior’ isn’t buying into any of it.

Though the 15-pound weight difference between lightweight, where Lee reigns, and welterweight, where Abbasov is king, can be huge inside of the circle, ‘The Warrior’ believes the deciding factor will come down to heart and pure skill.

Speaking to ONE Championship, Lee said:

“In a fight, the weight is one of the last things that come into play. When you’re in a fight with somebody, the main thing is just skill and heart. Whoever wants the fight more is who’s going to fight. It doesn’t matter who comes in bigger or smaller.”

Can Christian Lee achieve the next level of stardom by becoming a two-division world champion or will the size of Abbasov be too much for the Singaporean-American to overcome on November 18th? Fans in North America can find out by watching the event live and for free with an active Prime Video subscription.
