There, Leon will square off with two-time ONE world title challenger Tommy Langaker.
Speaking with Jits Magazine ahead of his sophomore appearance, Leon shared his excitement over having the opportunity to compete in Thailand and display his craft on a global stage.
"I think it's great that you have someone, myself, I'm a Canadian trained in America," Leon said. "I'm going against a Norwegian guy, and we're both two of the best in the world, and we're doing it in Bangkok, Thailand, that's, that's very special. It's not like he's from Norway."
He added:
"I'm from the US, and I took a two-hour flight. He took a 14-hour flight to get there. I mean, it's truly an international event. It's truly a global spectacle, and it's cool."
Tommy Langaker looks to climb back into the win column against Dante Leon
Standing in Dante Leon's way of a second straight win on martial arts' biggest global stage is Tommy Langaker, a Norwegian submission grappling star who has already made four appearances in ONE Championship.
Langaker earned back-to-back wins against Renato Moicano and Uali Kurzhev before going toe-to-toe with reigning ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo at ONE Fight Night 11 and ONE 165 in Tokyo.
Outside of ONE, Langaker has more than proven himself as one of the best BJJ practitioners on the planet with an incredible 135 career wins and gold medals at the IBJJF Worlds and European championships.
Will Langaker climb back into the win column inside the Mecca of Muay Thai, or will Leon continue his climb toward contendership by taking out one of the most accomplished grapplers in the game today?
Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE Fight Night 27 live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, January 10, in U.S. primetime.
