Former ONE strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks is excited to go head-to-head with a worthy foe who can match his elite wrestling pedigree.
This Friday, live in US primetime on August 2, 'The Monkey God' will butt heads with Cuban Olympic athlete Gustavo Balart in the final act of ONE Fight Night 24 inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Styles do make fights, and it's truly intriguing to see how 'El Gladiador's traditional Greco-Roman arsenal will figure against Brooks' Western-friendly folk style.

However, as far as the former 125-pound kingpin is concerned, it will be his underrated jiu-jitsu skills that will allow him to claim the interim strawweight MMA world title.
The Mash Fight Team standout told Sportskeeda MMA during his pre-event interview:
"It's two different styles of wrestling. He's a Greco-Roman Olympian, while I've done folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco. I think my jiu-jitsu mixes [well] with my folkstyle wrestling and will be able to trump his Greco-Roman prowess."
While Brooks is particularly known for his signature slams, it's his prowess in 'The Gentle Art' that allows him to break his foes with vicious submissions. Plus, if Balart somehow puts Jarred Brooks on his back, 'The Monkey God' is confident he has more weapons at his disposal.

Jarred Brooks pokes fun at Gustavo Balart's 'T-Rex arms'
Apart from his elite skills in combat, what makes Jarred Brooks a true entertainer is his uncanny ability on the microphone.
In the same interview with Sportskeeda MMA's Nick Atkin, 'The Monkey God' also couldn't help but crack jokes about Balart's 4-foot-11 stature:
"I think he's gonna try and hold me up against the ropes and then he's gonna try and stall. Whenever he gets a small opening he's gonna try and swing those T-Rex arms at me."
