“It still can knock you out” - Nabil Anane still wary of Petchtanong’s power in kickboxing’s big gloves

They may be fighting in bigger gloves, but 20-year-old sensation Nabil Anane knows he still needs to be wary of Petchtanong Petchfergus' legendary knockout power.

After making a name for himself in the art of eight limbs, earning five straight wins, including victories over one-time ONE world title challenger Felipe Lobo and Lethwei legend Soe Lin Oo in his last two outings, Anane will dawn the eight-ounce gloves for a bantamweight kickboxing clash against the Thai legend.

Anane vs. Petchtanong will go down as part of a loaded ONE Fight Night 26, airing live from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Speaking with ONE Championship ahead of their highly anticipated encounter, Anane recognizes that even though they'll be wearing much bigger gloves than the four-ouncers he's used to strapping on, he's not about to let his guard down against someone as dangerous as Petchtanong.

"And fight in big gloves. But I don't mean that big gloves won't hurt at all. It still can knock you out. But it reduces my pressure a lot," Anane said. "I haven't fought kickboxing for about 2-3 years. Since I joined ONE, I've only fought with small gloves. This time, I'm back to wearing big gloves again. I'm excited."

With Nabil Anane already sitting as the fifth-ranked contender in the bantamweight Muay Thai division, the 6'4" fan favorite could establish himself as a two-sport star with a win over a legend like Petchtanong.

Of course, that'll be much easier said than done. Not only does Petchtanong boast an impressive resume that includes well over 350 wins, but he is also on a hot streak of his own, winning three straight on martial arts' biggest global stage.

Petchtanong walks into ONE Fight Night 26 with decision victories over Zhang Chenglong and former ONE world champion Hiroki Akimoto. He also earned an impressive TKO against Alaverdi Ramazanov at ONE Friday Fights 68 in June.
