Jamahal Hill recently shared his Fighter of the Year for 'holy sh*t' moments and at the same time, showed respect for Alex Pereira's big win. It was a surprising gesture, especially considering the animosity between Hill and Pereira since their UFC 300 main event.
'Sweet Dreams' has been at odds with the reigning light heavyweight champion, and last weekend, they had to be separated at the UFC PI. 'Poatan' went on to win the Fighter of the Year award at the World MMA Awards due to his incredible performances and successfully defending his title three times in seven months.
Despite their personal issues, the former light heavyweight champion didn't discredit the Brazilian's accomplishments this year, which included his knockout win over him. While speaking to journalist Helen Yee, Hill mentioned that although Pereira had great performances, he believes Ilia Topuria made a stronger case for Fighter of the Year:
"For me, the Fighter of the Year this year was Ilia Topuria. It was a toss-up between him and Alex [Pereira]. I seen that Alex actually won it and they're not wrong to give it to him...But for me, the fighter that I was like, 'Holy sh*t', and was in awe of this year was Ilia Topuria. What he was able to do against 'Volk'. What he was able to do against Max [Holloway]. That had never been done." [9:06]

Jamahal Hill clears the air regarding beef with Alex Pereira
In addition to showing respect to Alex Pereira while sharing who he believed was the Fighter of the Year, Jamahal Hill cleared the air regarding his beef with the reigning light heavyweight champion.
During the aforementioned interview, Hill mentioned that his beef with Pereira is strictly from a competitive standpoint and is not personal and noted that he wants an opportunity to run their rivalry back:
"It's just competitive, it's just a competitive fire. We're in the same division, he's the champion in the division, I'm a top contender in the division and we're just competitive. It's just that competitive nature...I don't really look at it as like, 'Oh, he is somebody that I hate or somebody that I want to fight this motherfu**er all the time or any of the things like'...100%, nothing personal."
