ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks received some surprising words of widsom from former foe Lito Adiwang ahead of his flyweight MMA debut against Reece McLaren at ONE Fight Night 26 on Friday, Dec. 6.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, 'Thunder Kid' advised the world-class wrestler to hunt for chokes instead of joint locks when he shares the circle with McLaren:

"But for leg locks, armbars, and submissions like that, it will be difficult for him to catch Reece. Where I think Jarred can pull off his submissions are with chokes — arm-triangle or a rear-naked choke would be his best chances, I think."

The Filipino spitfire knows all too well how potent Brooks' submission capabilities are when he fell victim to the Mash Fight Team star via arm-triangle choke in November 2021 at ONE: NextGen III.

Despite his excellent wrestling abilities, 'The Monkey God' faces a unique challenge inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, as McLaren can fight effectively on the ground and on his feet.

Reece McLaren dismisses Jarred Brooks' hopes of success in flyweight MMA division

Fourth-ranked ONE flyweight MMA competitor Reece McLaren respects Jarred Brooks' achievements as a 125-pound strawweight MMA competitor. However, 'Lightning' does not believe Brooks can reach such heights in their stacked division.

Speaking exclusively with ONE, McLaren made his case as to why the former undisputed ONE strawweight MMA king will only find disappointment upon his move to the flyweight division:

"Every time [Brooks] talked about coming up to fight DJ, he kept talking about coming up to flyweight. I would constantly be telling him he's too small, too short. I'm standing by that. You should stay at strawweight bro."

ONE Fight Night 26 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
