Denice Zamboanga ran through the gauntlet to get to this point in her career. Last weekend, Zamboanga was crowned the interim divisional queen after a second-round technical knockout triumph over no.4-ranked atomweight contender Alyona Rassohyna of Ukraine to take home the gold.

Before that, however, Zamboanga had dealt with various injuries and setbacks since 2020 that derailed her world title opportunity. Speaking to Bangkok Post in a recent post-fight interview, Zamboanga claimed all those experiences were worth it in the long run.
