The Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis matchup, previously delayed, is among the most exciting at light welterweight. Both men have been highly successful in the ring, with Catterall being 29-1, while Prograis is 29-2. However, there is good reason to favor the Englishman in the bout.

First, Prograis has been inactive since Dec. 9, 2023. Ring-rust may very well be a factor. Moreover, his last fight was a lopsided loss to pound-for-pound great Devin Haney. By comparison, Catterall is on a three-fight win streak, and has already fought twice in 2024, so he is carrying momentum, confidence, and fitness.

There's also something to be said about how poor Prograis has looked in his most recent outings. Also, given how airtight Catterall's defense usually is, Prograis—who generally struggles with his range and technical boxers—is likely to lose.

None of the aforementioned concerns bode well for his chances against Catterall, especially when he was knocked down by Haney, who is often criticized for lacking punching power.
