Jack Rafferty vs. Henry Turner: Live round-by-round updates

Jack Rafferty and Henry Turner look to extend their undefeated professional boxing records with a vacant British Commonwealth title on the line.

There's a moment in every professional boxer's career where they have to test themselves against a fellow undefeated fighter. On Saturday, Oct. 5, Rafferty hopes to overcome the challenge, as the 29-year-old (23-0, 14 KOs) has an opportunity to obtain the vacant British Commonwealth super lightweight strap.

Rafferty's upcoming opponent is 24-year-old Turner (13-0, 5 KOs). The London native is coming off a run as the WBC International Silver lightweight champion, He plans to take the next step in his boxing career by taking home another title. Meanwhile, Rafferty recently held the IBO Continental welterweight strap.

Raggerty vs Turner will take place inside the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England during the undercard of Nick Ball vs. Ronny Rios.

The primary fights for Ball vs. Rios, including Jack Rafferty vs. Henry Turner, start at 11:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. CT / 2:00 p.m. ET. The WBA featherweight world title main event is expected to start roughly three-and-a-half hours later, which could change depending on the pacing of the other fights.

Jack Rafferty vs. Henry Turner

Round 1:

Jack Rafferty vs. Henry Turner is underway. Turner comes out pumping his jab. Rafferty and Turner circle each other to assert themselves in the ring. Rafferty is trying to counter Turner's jab with straight punches.

Turner finds a home for a straight left behind his jab. Rafferty hasn't landed anything significant through two minutes. Turner comes over the top after Rafferty slightly lands a left hook. Turner is gaining confidence through the first round.

Round 2:

Henry Turner continues to implement his jab. Turner catches Jack Rafferty trying to close the distance recklessly. Rafferty is struggling early with his lack of experience against a southpaw. Rafferty is trying to close the distance, but Turner is circling out and landing before reestablishing his distance control.

The fighters clinch momentarily. Rafferty almost finds a home with a straight punch. Turner is boxing beautifully, even though he hasn't inflicted an abundance of damage. Turner goes down to the body twice. Rafferty lands a right hand to end the round.

Round 3:

The referee tells Jack Rafferty's corner to remove the extra Vaseline from his face. Rafferty can't get out of the way of Henry Turner's hook when the latter circles out. Rafferty is inching forward and slowly closing the distance. Turner is using a lot of energy early in this fight by moving around the ring.

Rafferty goes down to the body with a jab. The tides are turning due to Rafferty gaining composure. Turner continues to rack up body punches. Turner finds a target for a right hook over the top. Rafferty barely misses on a big right hook.

Round 4:

Jack Rafferty sends a message by charging forward and pushing Henry Turner back. Turner lands a big left hand, Rafferty wears it well. Turner finds the mark with two sharp jabs. Turner's movement is giving Rafferty trouble to start the round.

They find themselves in the clinch, with Rafferty landing a light punch inside. Turner is keeping Rafferty back by catching him when the latter attempts to close the distance. Rafferty lands a bunch to the body and Turner returns the favor.

Rafferty has a small cut above his left eye. The blood could be going into his eye. Turner ends the round with a sharp straight left.

Round 5:

Henry Turner is starting to sit down on his punches. Jack Rafferty is moving forward plenty, but he hasn't landed much clean. Rafferty lands a thumping straight body punch. Turner takes back the momentum with a clean hook. Turner circles out off the ropes and lands a big hook.

Rafferty can't seem to establish momentum due to Turner's momentum and volume. Turner's hook continues to find the target when he rotates out. Rafferty needs to turn this into a fight because Turner is showcasing his superior boxing skills.

Round 6:

Jack Rafferty's corner is not being shy with the Vaseline tonight. Rafferty is pushing forward once again, but he can't catch Henry Turner. Turner loads up on a left hook and slightly finds the target. Turner lands a clean left hand down the pipe.

Both fighters are showing slight damage under their respective left eyes. Turner grabs Rafferty and pushes him against the ropes. Rafferty pushes back Turner with a straight right. Turner comes back with a left.

Rafferty attempted to time Turner when the latter circled out. Turner is running away on the scorecards. Let's see if Turner's cardio can hold up.

Round 7:

Henry Turner's hook finds the target again when he circles out. Jack Rafferty lands a clean jab with his left. Turner puts together two counter hooks that land. Rafferty needs to increase his volume because his power isn't enough to take these rounds over Turner's superior volume.

Turner bounces in and out landing several straight punches in the process. Turner continues to build confidence and showcase his fundamentals. They battle in close quarters to end the round, with both fighters finding some success.

Round 8:

Henry Turner opens the round with a sharp jab. Jack Rafferty is trying to take more risks, but Turner is landing and circling out. The referee separates the fighters off the ropes. Rafferty lands a big body punch to create momentum.

Turner is moving around the ring well, but his face is showing slight fatigue. Turner goes with back-to-back straight lefts. Rafferty times Turner's circling and lands a left hook. Rafferty temporarily tees off on Turner against the ropes.

Rafferty is turning the tide here. Turner is slowing down tremendously. Rafferty lands a barrage of punches while Turner sits against the ropes too long.

Round 9:

Henry Turner's body language is not promising. Jack Rafferty unloads a couple of body shots. Turner is staying on the ropes too long. Turner can't move out of the way like he was before. Rafferty lands a massive left hook. Turner could be fading!

Rafferty is starting to bully Turner. What a turn of events. Rafferty is remaining calm and teeing off on Turner. Turner is biting down on his mouthpiece and throwing back bombs, but the referee is keeping a close eye. Turner needs to move now!

Turner's heart is on display at the moment, but he's in big trouble. Rafferty's composure has been beautiful this round. Rafferty almost drops due to a body shot. Turner goes down due to several brutal body punches. Turner gets to his feet, his face is an absolute mess. Turner survives the round.

Henry Turner's corner throws in the towel. IT'S ALL OVER!
