Jackie Buntan is excited about embarking on a new journey in ONE Championship that involves not just Muay Thai but also kickboxing.
The Filipina-American superstar switches up to the strawweight kickboxing rank to fight French-Algerian powerhouse Anissa Meksen for the division's inaugural world title on Nov. 8 at ONE 169: Malykhin vs Reug Reug.
Previously, Buntan spent most of her career in ONE Championship climbing the atomweight ranks in Muay Thai. She had accrued a trio of dominant victories to earn the opportunity to fight for its inaugural belt against Smila Sundell, but regrettably lost to the teenage sensation via unanimous decision.
Over the past two years, Buntan has since gotten her career back on track with another three consecutive victories to earn, not one, but two world title opportunities.

If Buntan can decisively surpass Meksen and become the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world champion, then there's nothing stopping her from going after Sundell's Muay Thai belt, to become the next double-world champion.
"Yeah of course, I've made it very clear since coming into this company that I would love to compete in Muay Thai and kickboxing. So, the more the merrier," Buntan told Sportskeeda MMA.
ONE 169 airs live from the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, via Prime Video in North America.
Jackie Buntan expects to take control of the fight against Anissa Meksen with non-stop aggression and action
Jackie Buntan doesn't expect to be the least bit conservative against Anissa Meksen.
The Boxing Works representative has worked too hard for so many years to see herself being outmatched by her French-Algerian rival.
With so much to bring to the table, including her power, speed, and experience, Buntan expects to make this fight into a crowd-pleasing spectacle where only she comes out on top.
Speaking to ONE, Jackie Buntan promised:
"I do expect it to be a super entertaining fight with back-and-forth action. I just think there's going to be more action on my end."
